California: A fatal road accident took place in Central California, USA. A van hit a lorry here. Eight people died in this accident. Local officials said the incident took place on Friday in Madera City, Central California. Police said that seven farmers travelling in the van and the driver of the pickup truck were killed in the accident.

Meanwhile, the accident happened near Madera City at 6:15 a.m., said Javier Ruvalcaba, a Central California official. It is unfortunate that the van was completely damaged in this accident. Ruvalcaba said that the farmer who was travelling in the van was injured in the accident. He was admitted to a local hospital for treatment. Officials said that only two people were wearing seat belts in this accident. The other people in the van would have survived had they been wearing seat belts. Ruvalcaba said a separate witness told police the black pickup truck was speeding down the two-lane highway. An accident happened at this time. Police said they are investigating whether the driver was under the influence of drugs.
