Ohio, United States: Early polling data indicates a closely contested race in Ohio’s upcoming gubernatorial election, with Republican candidate Vivek Ramaswamy trailing slightly behind Democrat Amy Acton.
According to a survey released by Quantus Insights on March 16, Acton holds a narrow lead of one percentage point over Ramaswamy. The poll shows Acton securing 45.9 percent of voter support, while Ramaswamy stands at 44.9 percent.
The survey also highlights that 5.9 percent of voters remain undecided, while 3.3 percent expressed support for other candidates. Notably, neither of the leading candidates has crossed the 50 percent threshold, indicating a highly competitive race.
Vivek Ramaswamy, who gained national prominence during his 2024 presidential campaign, is currently the Republican frontrunner. He has received backing from former President Donald Trump as well as endorsement from the Ohio Republican Party.
On the Democratic side, Amy Acton, former Ohio health director, is widely expected to be the party’s candidate. She is known for leading the state’s public health response during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Commenting on the findings, Quantus Insights noted that the electorate remains fluid, with no candidate yet securing a decisive majority. The polling agency emphasized that voter preferences could shift significantly in the months leading up to the election.
In addition to the gubernatorial race, the survey also pointed to a tight contest in Ohio’s Senate race. Republican incumbent Jon Husted is reported to have a marginal one percent lead over Democrat Sherrod Brown.
With several months remaining before the election, both races are expected to remain highly competitive as candidates intensify their campaigns.
