Washington, D.C., USA: A women’s cultural celebration held in Washington, D.C., brought together members of the Telugu-American community to remember and celebrate Indian traditions, art, music, attire and family values.

Speaking at the event, Sai Sudha Paladugu, former president of GWTCS and spokesperson for TANA, said cultural celebrations are more than entertainment and serve as a way to preserve memories, traditions and values for future generations.

She expressed gratitude to the actors, singers and artists of the older generation whose talent, dedication and perseverance have left a lasting mark on the cultural landscape. She emphasized the importance of respecting their contributions and carrying their inspiration forward to younger generations.

Paladugu said the celebration provided an opportunity to reconnect with traditions, art, music, traditional attire and family values. She also stressed the need to preserve these cultural roots while encouraging future generations to take them forward with new ideas and creativity.

She further said TANA plans to provide broader opportunities for cultural expression at the TANA Mahasabha next year. These opportunities are expected to include competitions and programs featuring singing, dancing, acting, choreography and other forms of art.

Describing TANA as more than just a platform, Paladugu said the organization functions as a vibrant community that preserves cultural roots, celebrates heritage and encourages younger generations to develop and showcase their talents.

Members of the TANA cultural troupe, including Sushma Amruthaluri, Srividya Soma, Haritha Velaga, Nivedita, Shailaja, Geetha, Sridevi, Tanuja, Shanti, Shweta and Aparna, among others, participated in the celebration.

The event highlighted the importance of preserving cultural traditions within the Telugu-American community while creating opportunities for younger generations to connect with and carry forward their heritage.
