SYDNEY: Several injured in stabbing at church, second incident in three days

In Sydney, another stabbing incident occurred when a man attacked the bishop and several worshipers during a sermon at a church in Wakeley, which was being broadcast online.

According to officials quoted by news agency Reuters, a bishop and others were stabbed during the sermon at the church in Sydney's west on Monday night. The police have confirmed the occurrence of the incident and have arrested a man, currently being interrogated to ascertain the motive behind the attack.

Online videos depict the assailant choking and stabbing the bishop, leading worshipers at the scene to rush towards the attacker to save the bishop. Subsequently, the assailant began stabbing other worshippers. Although the injured individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries, they are currently receiving medical attention from paramedics of NSW Ambulance.

Meanwhile, authorities have advised against approaching the area for the time being. This incident marks the second stabbing in Sydney within three days, following a knife attack at a mall in the Bondi area that claimed six lives on Saturday. Presently, there are no indications linking the two incidents.
