Manama, Bahrain: Dr. Ravi Pillai, a prominent entrepreneur, and philanthropist known as the "King of Steel" for his ventures in the steel industry, has been awarded Bahrain’s esteemed Medal of Efficiency (First Class) for his exceptional contributions to the country’s growth. The award was presented to Dr. Pillai by King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, who highlighted the Indian-origin businessman’s significant role in Bahrain's development. Dr. Pillai is the first foreign businessman to receive this prestigious honor.
King Hamad expressed his appreciation, stating, "We honor Dr. Ravi Pillai for his outstanding service to the Kingdom. It is with great pleasure that we present this award as a token of our gratitude."
The Medal of Efficiency (First Class) is one of the highest honors in Bahrain, recognizing individuals who have made remarkable contributions to the nation. Dr. Pillai’s influence spans refinery operations, community development, and his efforts in enhancing Bahrain’s global stature.
A humbled Dr. Pillai responded, "I am deeply grateful for this recognition from His Majesty the King of Bahrain. This award reflects the collective effort of my dedicated team, the unwavering support of the people of Bahrain, and the trust that the Kingdom has placed in me. I dedicate this honor to Bahrain and its people."
He continued, "This award is also dedicated to my employees and their families, whose commitment and hard work have been crucial to our success. I also dedicate it to all Indians, particularly the expatriates in the Gulf, whose contributions have been vital to the region’s prosperity."
Dr. Pillai also expressed his thanks to HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, and Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Chairman of BAPCO Energies, for their visionary leadership and continued support. "Their dedication to Bahrain’s advancement is truly inspiring," he added.
