Founding chairman of Airtel, Mittal was awarded a knighthood

United Kingdom: Mittal has been bestowed with a Knighthood Commander award by the British government. In a noteworthy achievement, Sunil Bharti Mittal, the Indian telecom giant, has become the first Indian to receive this award from Charles III, who assumed the British throne following the demise of Queen Elizabeth.

The UK government honored Mittal with a Knighthood (KBE) award, recognizing his significant contributions to strengthening trade relations between Britain and India. At the age of 66, Mittal maintains his position as the founding chairman of Airtel, India's second-largest telecom company. The Knighthood Commander is among the highest civilian awards presented by Britain, and it is also conferred upon foreigners as a mark of respect.
