Jaya Badiga First Telugu Woman Appointed As Judge In America

Jaya Badiga, an American citizen of Indian origin and a Telugu child, has been appointed as a judge of the Sacramento County Superior Court there. Born in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, Jaya grew up in Hyderabad and settled in America with her family. He studied law there and started his career as a lawyer. 

Jaya, recently selected as a judge, was recently appointed as the Sacramento County Superior Court Judge by California State Governor Gavin Newsom.  Jaya has been a commissioner in the same court for the last two years. A member of the Democratic Party, Jaya served as an attorney for the California Department of Health Care Services in 2020. 

In 2018, he served in the Emergency Services Division of the California Governor's Office. Studied law at Santa Clara University.  MA in International Relations and International Communications, Boston University. Jaya has ten years of experience in resolving family cases and disputes.
