Kemba Walker, Former UConn Guard, Announces Retirement from Basketball

Kemba Walker, a four-time NBA All-Star and former UConn standout, has declared his retirement from basketball.

Walker, now 34 years old, did not participate in the NBA this past season but competed in the EuroLeague for AS Monaco. He shared his decision on social media on Tuesday.

Reflecting on his career, Walker expressed gratitude, stating, “This entire journey has been surreal. Looking back, I'm still amazed by everything I've accomplished.”

Throughout his career spanning 750 regular-season games, Walker averaged 19.3 points. He played for the Charlotte Bobcats/Hornets (2011-2019), Boston Celtics (2019-2021), New York Knicks (2021-2022), and Dallas Mavericks (2023).

Walker achieved four consecutive All-Star selections from 2017 to 2020 and was named to the All-NBA Third Team in the 2018-2019 season, his final year with Charlotte.

Prior to his professional career, Walker had a remarkable collegiate tenure at UConn, leading the team to a national championship in 2011 and earning the Most Outstanding Player award in the Final Four that same year.
