Marijuana Cultivation: Key Decision by the German Parliament

Berlin: Germany has officially approved the controlled cultivation and limited personal use of cannabis, despite facing strong opposition from both opposition parties and medical associations. The German parliament recently passed a bill legalizing the limited possession and controlled cultivation of cannabis for personal use. According to this legislation, individuals can purchase cannabis from authorized growers for personal consumption, with a daily limit of 25 grams, all under a regulated system.

Additionally, the new law permits the cultivation of up to three cannabis plants in each household. German Health Minister Karl Lauterbach emphasized the importance of this law during its introduction in parliament, stating, In our current society, the approval of this law is necessary, as a considerable number of young people in the country are resorting to buying and consuming cannabis through the black market. Germany aligns itself with other European countries that have already embraced liberal policies regarding cannabis use.
