Swimming Spots at Three State Parks Temporarily Closed

In the days leading up to the Fourth of July, swimming areas at three state parks have been shut down due to water quality concerns.

The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) has announced the closure of swimming areas at the following parks:

  1. Day Pond State Park in Colchester
  2. Wadsworth Falls State Park in Middlefield
  3. Wharton Brook State Park in Wallingford

These locations are part of the state's routine testing program. You can view all the lakes, ponds, and shoreline beaches that DEEP monitors here.

Local health departments are tasked with the responsibility of testing municipal beaches and swimming areas.
