England, UK: Anoushka Kale, a British Indian student at Cambridge University, has been elected as the President of the prestigious Cambridge Union Society for the Easter 2025 term. Kale, currently the Debates Officer, won 126 votes in a recent uncontested election.

Kale aims to enhance diversity and accessibility at the Union, focusing on collaborations with cultural groups like the India Society and hosting international speakers. She is passionate about continuing the Union’s tradition of global debate and high-profile speakers.

At 20, Kale is one of the few South Asian women to hold this prestigious role, following in the footsteps of notable past presidents, including economist John Maynard Keynes and entrepreneur Karan Bilimoria.

The election comes as the Union faces rising costs, leading to an increase in membership prices for its historic building upkeep. Kale's plans also include providing reduced access tickets for the popular summer garden party.
