Nine-year-old British Indian chess prodigy Bodhana Sivanandan has made history as the youngest ever to represent England in international sports.

Living in Harrow, she will join England's women's team at the Chess Olympiad in Budapest this September, becoming the team's youngest member alongside players in their 30s and 40s.

Bodhana is ranked as the top under-10 girl globally in classical chess by Fide and holds an impressive 2185 Elo rating, making her the 58th top blitz player born after 2003 despite her age. Her talent has garnered respect, with older players expressing awe at her skill.

Bodhana, who discovered chess at five during lockdown, aims to become a grandmaster and women's world champion, currently holding the title of Woman FIDE Master.

Her selection for the national team at such a young age marks a milestone in English sports history, fueled by a growing interest in chess inspired by popular culture like Netflix's 'The Queen's Gambit'.
