Jizan, Saudi Arabia: Nine Indian nationals lost their lives in a devastating road accident in Saudi Arabia, as confirmed by the Indian Consulate in Jeddah on Wednesday. The diplomatic mission assured its continued coordination with local authorities and affected families to provide necessary assistance.
In an official statement on X, the consulate expressed deep sorrow over the incident, stating, "We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of nine Indian nationals in a road accident near Jizan in Saudi Arabia’s Western Region."
The consulate further extended its condolences to the bereaved families and assured full support. "Our heartfelt sympathies go out to the affected families. The Consulate General of India in Jeddah remains in close contact with authorities and the families involved, ensuring all possible assistance. We also wish a swift recovery for those injured. A dedicated helpline has been established for any further inquiries," the statement read.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar also reacted to the tragedy, expressing his grief. "Deeply saddened to learn about this accident and the loss of lives," he said, confirming that India's Consul General in Jeddah is actively involved in providing full support during this difficult time.
