Sudan Shelling by RSF Kills 7 Civilians, Injures 25 in Khartoum

KHARTOUM, Sudan: Sudanese authorities announced on Friday that an attack by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) claimed the lives of seven civilians and left 25 others wounded in the western region of Khartoum, Sudan's capital.

The Health Ministry's statement detailed that residents of Omdurman, located in western Khartoum, were hit by intense artillery fire from the RSF. The ministry highlighted that the casualties included three women and a child.

The RSF has yet to issue a statement regarding the incident.

The conflict in Sudan, which erupted in April 2023, stems from tensions between army General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and RSF leader Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo over the RSF's proposed integration into the national army.

This ongoing war has triggered a severe humanitarian crisis, with nearly 16,000 fatalities and millions forced to flee their homes.
