The crew of the Rubimar ship abandoned ship in the Red Sea

Internet Desk: The Red Sea is still churning. Houthi rebels in Yemen continue to target ships. Recently, a huge ship was attacked on Sunday. The crew left it there. This is the first time that this has happened since the beginning of tensions in the region.

The US Central Command X announced on Monday that the Houthis attacked the Belizean-flagged ship Rubimar with two ballistic missiles on Sunday evening. It said that one warship and another merchant ship responded to the danger warnings from the crew. Rubimar disclosed that the crew was immediately taken to the local port. Rubimar is a small cargo ship. Its registration is registered in England.

On the other hand, the spokesman of the Houthis said in a statement that the English ship was completely sunk in their attack on Sunday. But, there is no official confirmation of how much truth there is in this. There was no mention of this in the US Central Command statement. In the wake of the latest attacks, the European Union has undertaken a naval operation to protect its ships. Greece is leading this.

It is known that the Houthis have been attacking ships in the Red Sea since November 2023. They say that they are doing this in retaliation for Israel's military actions against Gaza. It has been announced that these attacks will continue until they are stopped. About 30 percent of the world's trade, equivalent to 12 percent of container ships, is transported through the Red Sea. In the wake of a series of attacks, some situations have arisen that require a change of direction.
