Augusta, Georgia, USA: Indian-origin researcher Ravi Komaravolu has been named to the Editorial Board of Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology (ATVB), a leading journal published by the American Heart Association.

Komaravolu, an early-career researcher at the Immunology Center of Georgia (IMMCG), part of the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University, will serve on the journal's full Editorial Board alongside his colleague Redouane Aherrahrou.

Both researchers previously served on ATVB's Early Career Editorial Board and have now been appointed to the full Editorial Board for a two-year term. Adil Rasheed, Ph.D., an assistant professor at IMMCG, recently completed his term on the board.

The Immunology Center of Georgia congratulated Komaravolu and Aherrahrou in a post on X.

Klaus Ley, M.D., co-director of the Immunology Center of Georgia, Georgia Research Alliance Eminent Scholar and professor of physiology, said editorial board positions are important for helping young researchers build recognition and advance their careers.

Ley also highlighted the expertise represented at Augusta University and the Immunology Center of Georgia, noting that two researchers from the center are currently serving on the board while another recently completed his term.

Komaravolu currently serves as a research faculty scientist and senior member of the Hedrick Lab, led by Catherine “Lynn” Hedrick, Ph.D., Georgia Research Alliance Bradley Turner Eminent Scholar in Vascular and Cancer Immunology, co-director of IMMCG and professor in the MCG Department of Medicine.

He joined the Immunology Center of Georgia when it was founded in fall 2022, following three years of research work at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation. He holds a Ph.D. in vascular medicine from Heidelberg University in Germany.

Komaravolu completed his M.Tech. at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH).

Reacting to his appointment, Komaravolu said it was an honor to join the ATVB Editorial Board.

He said the position would provide him with an opportunity to stay up to date with emerging discoveries shaping the field. He also expressed gratitude to Catherine Lynn Hedrick and Klaus Ley for their leadership and for helping researchers develop the ability to critically evaluate complex scientific questions and contribute to advances in the field.

The appointment marks another significant professional milestone for Komaravolu as he continues his research career in vascular medicine and immunology.
