Chicago to Delhi: Dr Munish Raizadas Journey to Reform Indian Politics

Chicago, USA: Dr. Munish Kumar Raizada, a neonatologist-turned-politician from Chicago, is making waves in Indian politics with his reform-focused agenda as he contests the New Delhi Assembly seat in the 2025 elections.

Raizada’s journey into politics began in 2012, inspired by the Anna Hazare-led anti-corruption movement. He later helped organize the first Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convention in the US in 2014. After returning to India in 2013, he became a part of AAP’s early success but grew disillusioned with its internal democracy and transparency.

In 2020, Raizada joined the Bharatiya Liberal Party (BLP), where he was elected president. His vision for India’s future includes clean governance, transparency, and sustainable development. “Politics isn’t about power, but about making a real difference,” says Raizada.

As the Delhi elections approach, he proposes a governance model based on constitutional liberalism, with a focus on decentralization, anti-corruption, and sustainable urban development. He emphasizes the need for better healthcare through increased budget allocations and public-private partnerships, drawing from his medical background.

Raizada’s goal is to rebuild trust in Indian democracy by advocating for transparent funding, democratic candidate selection, and zero-tolerance for corruption. His commitment to systemic reform aims to address issues like pollution, traffic, and the neglected Yamuna River.
