Union Minister Piyush Goyal Encourages Indian Diaspora in Belgium to Stay Connected to Their Heritage Brussels, Belgium: On January 20, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, urged the Indian community in Belgium to maintain strong ties with their cultural roots while exploring global opportunities.
During his visit to Belgium and Luxembourg, Goyal emphasized the significant role of the Indian diaspora, referring to them as "India's strongest brand ambassadors." He took the opportunity to engage with the Indian community, including students and senior faculty members at KU Leuven University in Belgium.
Addressing the students, Goyal said, “Some of you may decide to return to India, start your ventures, explore new ideas, or even embrace the possibility of living in India again. However, for those who choose to stay abroad and seize the opportunities that come their way, remember to stay grounded. Wherever life takes you, carry India with you—in your heart and your mind.”
He also encouraged students to think about the less fortunate and those who haven't had access to quality education. "Consider how you can make a difference. Perhaps you can inspire a child from your village to pursue higher education at prestigious institutions like KU Leuven, or identify a talented student who could thrive in a PhD program," Goyal suggested.
During the discussions, Goyal highlighted India's remarkable transformation in the past decade, driven by structural reforms, innovation, and strong leadership.
Reflecting on the event, Goyal shared on X, “It was a pleasure to engage with Indian students at KU Leuven in Belgium, alongside esteemed faculty members. I discussed the rapid growth of India over the last ten years, fueled by reforms, innovation, and decisive leadership. I also encouraged students to be part of this success story during the Amrit Kaal. I addressed their queries on various topics, including India's economy, ease of doing business, sustainable development, and trade agreements.”
