Abhinav Rastogi to Lead Temple Health as CEO from January 2026

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA: Temple University has announced the appointment of Abhinav Rastogi as the next President and Chief Executive Officer of Temple Health, effective January 2026. He will take over from Michael A. Young, who will retire following a planned leadership transition.

The change marks a continuation of Temple Health’s structured succession plan, designed to support the organisation’s long-term growth and strategic vision.

Currently, Rastogi holds the roles of President and CEO of Temple University Hospital as well as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Temple Health. Upon stepping into his new position, he will maintain oversight of the hospital while expanding his leadership responsibilities across the broader health network.

Temple University President John Fry praised the promotion, describing it as a testament to the strength of the institution’s internal leadership. “Abhinav is truly ‘Temple Made.’ His promotion symbolises stability, consistency, and a clear sense of purpose at Temple Health,” Fry said.

Rastogi’s 23-year career at Temple Health includes leading major initiatives in clinical operations, patient care, and organisational performance. As the head of Temple University Hospital and its campuses—Main, Jeanes, Episcopal, Temple Women & Families Hospital, and Temple Health–Chestnut Hill Hospital—he has implemented transformative programs that have earned national recognition for quality and innovation.

Under Rastogi’s guidance, the Temple Lung Centre achieved the distinction of becoming the nation’s highest-volume lung transplant program. He also introduced major operational and financial improvements that generated over $100 million in annual impact. His leadership was instrumental in integrating Temple Health–Chestnut Hill Hospital and launching the Temple Women & Families Hospital.

“Abhinav is deeply respected across the Temple community for his integrity, collaboration, and dedication,” said Fry. “Alongside Mike Young and the Temple Health team, he has been central to the system’s progress and mission-driven growth.”

Dr Amy J. Goldberg, Marjorie Joy Katz Dean of the Lewis Katz School of Medicine, also expressed confidence in the new appointment. “Abhinav is an outstanding leader who embodies Temple’s values and mission. We share a commitment to advancing Temple’s role as a premier academic medical centre that drives excellence in patient care, research, and education—serving North Philadelphia and beyond,” Goldberg said.

Rastogi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Mumbai University in India. He later earned a dual Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) and Management Information Systems (MIS) from Temple University’s Fox School of Business and Management between 2000 and 2002.
