Amazon is preparing to launch 27 new internet satellites under its Project Kuiper. This launch is scheduled to take place on April 10 using the United Launch Alliance (ULA) Atlas V rocket. The main goal of Project Kuiper is to provide internet access globally, especially in regions that currently lack high-speed internet connectivity.
The launch will happen at the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida and is expected to take place at 12:30 PM IST on April 10. People can also watch this event live through Amazon's and ULA’s official websites or YouTube channels.
This mission is significant because it's ULA’s first major launch of the year, carrying the heaviest payload for Project Kuiper so far. While Amazon launched only 2 satellites in October 2023, this marks its first large-scale deployment. These satellites will operate in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and aim to provide fast, uninterrupted broadband services to underserved areas. Overall, Amazon plans to launch around 3,200 satellites under Project Kuiper, in a model similar to SpaceX’s Starlink, with more launches planned to expand the network in the future.
