Boston, Massachusetts, USA: Americans4Hindus has expanded its footprint in Massachusetts with the official inauguration of its Boston chapter on October 25. The organisation announced that Lakshmi Thalanki will serve as the chapter’s first president, leading efforts to promote advocacy and civic engagement within the local Hindu American community.
The national nonprofit focuses on advancing civil rights, representation, and community participation for Hindu Americans. With the launch of the Boston chapter, Americans4Hindus aims to strengthen its grassroots network in areas experiencing rapid growth of Hindu American populations.
According to Geeta Sikand, Vice President of Communications at Americans4Hindus National Leadership, the new chapter will emphasise youth involvement, interfaith collaboration, educational initiatives, and community outreach.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dr Lakshmi Thalanki as the President of our Boston Chapter,” Sikand said. “Her dedication to community service and leadership experience will help drive our mission forward in Massachusetts.”
Sikand further noted that the organisation’s broader goal is to ensure that Hindu Americans have fair representation in public life and are treated with dignity and equality.
In her acceptance remarks, Thalanki expressed her commitment to working closely with students, parents, professionals, and community leaders across Greater Boston. She said the chapter will focus on promoting an accurate understanding of Hindu traditions in schools and institutions, while encouraging civic participation among Hindu Americans.
“I’m deeply honoured to take on this role,” Thalanki said. “Boston’s Hindu community is vibrant and growing, and together, we will work to amplify our voices, foster unity, and highlight the valuable contributions of Hindu Americans across Massachusetts.”
The launch event was attended by several community members, volunteers, and supporters, including Americans4Hindus founder and chair, Dr. Romesh Japra. The organisation also invited new volunteers and partners to join its mission as the Boston chapter begins its work.
