Dr Harleen Grewal, a California-based dentist of Indian descent, has gone viral over an old video in which she made humorous remarks about her Democrat patients. In the clip, she jokes that her patients often appear startled when they notice photos of Republican figures displayed in her dental office, Skyline Smiles. “They jump up and bolt as if Donald Trump himself just walked in,” she said. Grewal further joked that for such patients, she secretly reduces their laughing gas. She added that whenever patients criticise her fees, she wears a red cap inspired by Trump’s campaign slogan that says, ‘Make Your Smile Great Again.’
“When they complain or look alarmed, I simply turn down the laughing gas,” she laughed.
In the same video, Grewal quipped that she missed the pandemic days when, according to her, “the Democrats stayed home with their masks on.” She added, “Sometimes when a Democrat complains about my prices, I just ask them — how’s Bidenomics working for you?” she told attendees at the Liberty Gala.
Although the video resurfaced recently, Grewal explained that it was an old clip from a lighthearted speech meant purely as a joke. She revealed that the California Dental Board had looked into the matter but found no misconduct. “They asked me about the remarks, and I told them yes, it was part of a roast at a women’s Republican event,” she said. “Democrats make jokes all the time, so why can’t we? It was never meant to be taken seriously.”
Grewal claimed the old footage was being shared now to try and cancel her. “The dental board did a full investigation and found nothing improper,” she clarified. However, the resurfaced clip ignited outrage online, with many social media users calling for disciplinary action against her. “She’s a pediatric dentist, doing this to kids — she should lose her license,” one commenter wrote, demanding her removal.
‘You Can’t Cancel Me,’ Says Grewal
Grewal said this experience showed her exactly how “cancel culture” operates. “The accusation was that I ‘torture’ patients who disagree with my politics,” she explained. “That ridiculous claim came from a playful comment I made at the Republican Liberty Gala. My words were distorted to attack my career — but I refused to give in.”
She added that despite the controversy, her business continues to do well. “My practice is thriving. I’m still proudly serving families in Santa Clarita with dedication and care,” Grewal stated. “If anything, these attacks have strengthened my resolve to stand firm, speak louder, and fight even harder.”
