Can Shital Shah Transform Teacher Fellowships at Fund for Teachers?

Washington, D.C., USA: Shital C. Shah, recognised for initiatives such as the National Partnership for Student Success—aimed at increasing the number of mentors and tutors in public schools—has joined the Board of Directors of Fund for Teachers (FFT).

FFT, one of the largest supporters of PreK–12 educators in the United States, highlighted Shah’s appointment as a significant addition to the organisation. Her extensive experience in public education and partnership-building is expected to strengthen FFT’s mission of empowering teachers through self-designed summer fellowships.

“I was inspired to join FFT because of its dedication to supporting teachers’ professional development, which ultimately benefits their students’ learning,” Shah stated. “I’m excited to contribute and help expand these opportunities for educators nationwide,” she added.

Shah currently holds the position of Senior Advisor to the CEO for Special Initiatives at United Way Worldwide (UWW). She has previously served as Senior Advisor to the U.S. Secretary of Education and as Director of Strategic Partnerships at the U.S. Department of Education, advising Secretary Miguel Cardona on partnership strategies across K–12 education, higher education, and workforce development.

During her career, Shah has spearheaded several prominent programs, including:

Engage Every Student Initiative – improving access to quality out-of-school programs using American Rescue Plan funds.

National Partnership for Student Success – boosting the presence of mentors and tutors in public schools.

Elevating the Teaching Profession Campaign – emphasising educators’ importance while encouraging private-sector commitments to address the teacher shortage.

“Shital has worn many hats—from advocate to activist—always with the goal of advancing education and supporting teachers,” said Karen Eckhoff, Executive Director of FFT.
