China has released an email ID to collect information about those who support Taiwan’s independence. According to CGTN, 323 names have already been listed, and Chinese authorities have begun an investigation. In China, treason is punishable by death, and if found guilty, these individuals could face execution.
State Council Taiwan Affairs Office representative Chen Binhua stated that the list includes Taiwanese political figures, sponsors of organizations, and internet influencers who support Taiwan’s independence. He accused them of suppressing opposition parties with baseless allegations, threatening to shut down pro-China organizations, and violating the rights of those with Chinese spouses in Taiwan. He emphasized that Chinese authorities will take legal action based on facts and regulations and hold those involved in pro-independence activities accountable. If the allegations against the 323 individuals are proven, they may face the death penalty.
China and Taiwan have been in conflict for decades, with China considering Taiwan as its territory, while Taiwan claims to be an independent nation. Many countries recognize Taiwan as part of China, but the U.S. has recently extended significant support to Taiwan due to rising tensions. China strongly opposes this backing.
