Elon Musks Ultimatum: Federal Employees Face Resignation Threat Over Work Reports

New York: A 48-hour deadline imposed by DOGE chief Elon Musk has left thousands of U.S. federal employees in confusion. Musk tweeted on X (formerly Twitter) that all federal employees would soon receive an email under President Trump’s directive, and failure to respond would be considered a resignation.

Shortly after the email was sent, employees were instructed to list their work activities from the past week in five bullet points and CC their manager, with a strict deadline of Monday at 11:59 PM. This sudden directive from Musk caused chaos across multiple departments, including the National Weather Service and other federal agencies.

Everett Kelley, President of the American Federation of Government Employees, condemned Musk’s ultimatum, stating that both Musk and Trump were displaying disdain toward federal workers and essential public service agencies. Since Musk's appointment as head of the Government Efficiency Department, thousands of federal employees have been forced to resign.
