Frisco, Texas, USA: Burt Thakur, the first council member of Indian descent in Frisco, addressed allegations related to a so-called “Indian takeover” of the city during a municipal council meeting on January 3. The controversy has drawn growing attention in recent weeks, largely fueled by social media personalities and local voices.
The claims were prominently raised by Frisco resident Marc Palasciano, who has publicly identified himself as a whistleblower. While speaking at the council session, Palasciano referenced what he described as an “Indian takeover” occurring in certain areas of Texas, reflecting concerns that have been widely shared online.
In response, Thakur highlighted the contributions of Indian immigrants to American society, stressing their commitment to national ideals. He noted that Indians who came to the United States embraced American citizenship and played an active role in supporting and advancing the American Dream.
“At some point, Indians arrived in America, became Americans, and contributed to strengthening the American Dream, because participation is essential to that dream,” Thakur said during his remarks to the council.
Addressing the frustrations voiced by some community members, Thakur urged residents to focus on unity and collective progress. “I recognize that people are upset. I get that. Look around you to your left and right—this is Frisco. When we work together, we are capable of achieving great things,” he added.
