Gulf Nations: Key Employment Hub for Telangana Migrants, Says Minister Vivek

Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Minister Gaddam Vivek stated that a majority of people from Telangana seeking work abroad are finding opportunities in the Gulf countries. Addressing a gathering in Dubai on Thursday, the minister emphasised that the state government is committed to safeguarding the interests of Telangana’s migrant workforce in the region.

The Andhra Pradesh Labour and Employment Minister highlighted that Gulf nations continue to serve as a major employment hub for Telangana residents. He noted that thousands of youth from the state secure jobs abroad, especially in the Gulf, making it a vital source of livelihood for many families.

Speaking further in Dubai, Vivek said the government is actively working to improve skill development and employment opportunities for the younger generation while also ensuring the welfare of expatriate workers. He revealed that he, along with an official delegation, would soon visit several Gulf countries to review the situation directly. The minister added that the state currently provides ₹5 lakh financial support to families of migrants who lose their lives in Gulf countries. He also underlined that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is determined to implement more structured measures for the betterment of overseas workers.

Earlier in the day, a delegation led by SV Reddy, the NRI cell convenor of the Congress Party, met Minister Vivek in Dubai. They briefed him on the difficulties faced by Telangana expatriates in Dubai and across other Gulf nations. In response, the minister explained that the government has already rolled out multiple schemes aimed at improving the lives of unorganised sector employees both in India and abroad.

Vivek pointed out that Telangana, under CM Revanth Reddy, has introduced unprecedented reforms for the welfare of gig workers, setting a model for other states. He further stressed the need for wider awareness among Gulf migrants about the state’s health check-up programs and other welfare schemes designed particularly for construction laborers working in harsh desert conditions.
