Houston, Texas: Strong storms on Sunday caused sudden flooding across Houston and nearby Texas areas, with Pecan Park hit hardest. The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning and urged residents to avoid flooded roads as nearly 4 inches of rain fell, with up to 2 more inches expected.
Low-lying streets, underpasses, and major highways were submerged, making travel dangerous. High-risk areas include Pasadena, Pearland, Deer Park, South Houston, Bellaire, West University Place, Galena Park, Jacinto City, and parts of downtown such as Greater Eastwood, Near Northside, Midtown, and Fourth Ward.
Social media videos showed people wading through deep water and vehicles, including an SUV in South Houston and two cars near Interstate 45 and Wayside Drive, nearly submerged. Authorities warned residents not to drive through flooded roads, emphasizing that conditions could worsen if the heavy rainfall continues.
