Attacks on Hindu temples and minorities continue in Bangladesh. Despite claims by the interim government led by Mohammad Yunus that law and order are stable, incidents targeting Hindus have not stopped. In a recent incident, a Hindu temple in Bangladesh was attacked. Miscreants vandalized the idol of Goddess Mahamaya at the Shri Shri Mahamaya Temple in Murihat, Raipur, located in Lakshmipur district. This attack occurred during the Holi festival.
According to temple committee secretary Vishwanath Saha, after evening prayers on Thursday, the priests left the temple. When the priest returned the next morning, he was shocked to see the idol broken and damaged. Realizing that an attack had taken place, he informed the local Hindu community. The entire incident was captured on the temple's CCTV cameras, showing a masked individual entering the premises, vandalizing the idol, and fleeing.
Following the incident, a complaint was lodged at the police station. The Lakshmipur Puja Utsav Parishad has demanded the arrest of the culprits within 24 hours. Raipur Police Station in-charge Nizam Uddin Bhuiyan visited the scene with his team. He confirmed that a case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
