India Strikes Back: Trade War Against Turkiye Begins

Ankara, Turkey: – During heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, Turkey's support for Pakistan has sparked strong reactions from India. In response, Indian authorities are implementing several measures that may impact Turkey. Notably, during India’s Operation Sindoor, Turkey reportedly provided Pakistan with drones, weapons, and military personnel. This has angered many Indians, who have started voluntarily boycotting Turkish products. The hashtag Boycott Turkey is currently trending across social media platforms. In addition, the Indian government is adopting strict actions against Turkey.

CAIT Takes a Stand Against Turkey:

At the National Trade Conference hosted by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), over 125 prominent trade leaders resolved to sever all commercial, tourism, and other ties with Turkey and Azerbaijan. The decision includes a complete halt to business relations with these nations. The trade community also urged the Indian film industry to avoid filming in Turkey and Azerbaijan, warning that any such projects would face public and trade boycotts. Furthermore, it was agreed that no corporate brand should conduct promotional shoots in these countries. Delegates from 24 states attended the conference and voiced support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, pledging to oppose any countries siding against India. Turkey and Azerbaijan had backed Pakistan amid recent national security issues for India, leading to strong criticism from Indian trade groups who felt betrayed—especially after India had extended humanitarian and diplomatic aid to these nations in the past.

Clarification from Celebi Aviation:

In New Delhi, the Indian government revoked the security clearance of Celebi Aviation, a firm providing ground handling services at multiple Indian airports. Reacting to this, the company stated that it is not headquartered in Turkey. It clarified that it has no links to Turkish President Erdogan's family and denied the widespread claims that his daughter, Sumeye Erdogan, is involved in the company. Celebi Aviation emphasized that there is no shareholder or ownership connection to Sumeye. The firm is owned solely by Ken Celebioglu and Kenan Celebioglu of the Celebioglu family.
