Indian Expat Student Dies During Diwali Celebrations in Dubai

Dubai, UAE: Vaishnav Krishnakumar, an 18-year-old Indian expatriate known for his outstanding academics and leadership qualities, tragically passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest during Diwali celebrations at Dubai International Academic City on Tuesday night, October 21.

According to media sources, Vaishnav — a first-year BBA Marketing student — suddenly collapsed in the middle of the event. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but despite prompt medical attention, doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

Vaishnav hailed from Kunnamkulam, located in the Thrissur district of Kerala, India. He completed his schooling at GEMS Our Own Indian School, Dubai, where his mother, Vidhu Krishnakumar, serves as a teacher. He is survived by his parents, V. G. Krishnakumar and Vidhu Krishnakumar, along with his younger sister, Vrishti.

Recognised for his brilliance and leadership, Vaishnav achieved 97.4% in the 2024 CBSE Class 12 Board Exams, earning A1 grades in all subjects and scoring a perfect 100 in Marketing and Entrepreneurship. His remarkable performance secured him the UAE Golden Visa, an honour given to exceptional students.

As highlighted on his LinkedIn profile, Vaishnav actively participated in the Model United Nations (MUN) programme, serving in multiple roles — from Delegate and Chair to Vice-President and, most recently, President. In this capacity, he guided conferences and mentored aspiring students.

Vaishnav also gained hands-on experience through internships at Kendal AI and Uniplus, two Dubai-based firms, where he contributed to social media marketing, sales, and client relations. His professional interests reflected a deep passion for entrepreneurship and digital business strategy.

Outside of academics, Vaishnav was known for his engaging social media presence. He frequently shared motivational messages, financial insights, and fitness content, inspiring many with his positivity and discipline.
