Indian-Origin Biotech Investor Chaya Patel Selected for Women In Bio 2025 Boardroom Program

Cambridge, Massachusetts:  Chaya D. Patel, a biotech investor of Indian origin and principal at Mission BioCapital, has been named to the prestigious 2025 Boardroom Ready program by Women In Bio (WIB). Headquartered in Cambridge, Patel focuses on sourcing and assessing life sciences investment opportunities. The Boardroom Ready initiative, backed by Los Angeles-based law firm Latham & Watkins, is designed to prepare senior women leaders in the biotech sector for corporate board service.

Since joining Mission BioCapital in 2021, Patel has supported various portfolio companies and served as a board observer for Arclight Therapeutics, ImmunOs, and Eikonizo Therapeutics. She is also actively involved with the Emerging Venture Capitalists Association in Boston. Before her current role, she contributed to venture creation at a family office, playing a key role in the growth of Alloy Therapeutics. Her academic credentials include a PhD from Dartmouth, where she specialized in maternal immunity to combat neonatal viral infections, and a bachelor’s degree in microbiology and immunology from UCLA.

The Boardroom Ready program provides advanced executive training and practical boardroom experience, aiming to boost the presence of women in biotech and life sciences leadership. Dr. Kate Hillier, a partner at Latham & Watkins, expressed pride in supporting the initiative, emphasizing the value of diverse leadership perspectives. Women In Bio, a nonprofit with nearly 4,000 members and programming that reaches over 12,000 professionals across 13 North American chapters, continues to champion mentorship and career advancement for women in the life sciences.
