Dr. Neha Gupta, a 36-year-old pediatrician from Oklahoma, has been arrested for allegedly killing her 4-year-old daughter, Aria, in Florida and staging it as a drowning.

The disturbing event took place on June 27 in El Portal, a tranquil neighborhood located just outside Miami’s urban core.

Gupta claimed the child wandered out and drowned, but an autopsy found no signs of drowning, only injuries consistent with suffocation.

Authorities believe Gupta placed the body in a pool to fake the cause of death amid a custody dispute. Her lawyer called the arrest premature, claiming it was a tragic accident.

She is currently jailed without bond, and facing extradition. Investigators are treating it as a potential cover-up while urging the public not to speculate.
