Surrey,British Columbia, Canada: An individual of Indian origin living in Canada has struck luck by winning a $500,000 lottery prize after correctly matching all four numbers on his ticket. According to the British Columbia Lottery Corporation, the chances of hitting this combination are nearly one in 3.7 million, making the win extremely rare.

The fortunate winner, Sandeep Sidhu, a resident of Surrey, discovered his big win while he was at a gas station. As reported by CTV News, he immediately rushed home to share the surprising news with his wife. Initially doubtful, she refused to believe him.

To convince her, Sidhu scanned the lottery ticket—purchased from a Chevron store located at 175 Street and 56 Avenue—right in front of her, proving that the prize was real.

Speaking to local media, Sidhu said the unexpected windfall would allow him to travel to India and reunite with his relatives, whom he has not visited in a long time. Describing the moment, he said the win was both shocking and completely unforeseen, according to statements released by the lottery authorities.
