In a shocking incident in the United States, the police acted inhumanely toward an Indian student. At the Newark Airport in New Jersey, officers treated the student with extreme cruelty. They pinned him to the ground, handcuffed him, and forced him down as two officers sat on top of him. The student writhed in pain while four officers held him down for a long time, pressing on his back.
Videos of the incident are currently going viral on social media. The Indian Embassy has responded, stating that they are in contact with local authorities. Meanwhile, the Indian diaspora and NRIs have expressed outrage on social media, questioning why a student was treated like a criminal. They argue that even if he had done something wrong, he should have simply been sent back, not handcuffed and humiliated.
Kunal Jain, an Indian-American entrepreneur, posted on social media, "Last night I witnessed an Indian student being deported at Newark Airport. He was crying as he was handcuffed—it was heartbreaking and I felt helpless as an NRI." He urged the Indian Embassy in the U.S. to investigate the matter and assist the student. Jain added that he had never seen such treatment even for terrorists. He mentioned around 50 people were present but no one dared to help. He also said the student was speaking in Hindi, which the officers couldn’t understand, and when he asked an officer if they would help, they refused.
