External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will meet US Secretary of State Marco Rubio today in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session.
This will be their first in-person meeting since tensions arose over US-imposed trade tariffs, including duties on Russian oil.
The meeting aims to strengthen India-US ties, continue stalled trade talks, and address recent H-1B visa fee increases.
Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal is also leading a delegation for trade negotiations, seeking an early mutually beneficial agreement.
The H-1B visa fee hike initially confused tech companies, but the White House later clarified it applies only to new applications, exempting current holders.
