A small plane crashed in southern Mexico, killing three people—two Guatemalan pilots and one Mexican crew member. The aircraft was part of a joint Mexico-U.S. effort to control screwworm flies by releasing sterilized flies to stop their reproduction. The crash occurred on Friday during this mission.
In April, the U.S. criticized Mexico for limiting flight operations to six days a week and imposing import duties on aviation parts and sturgeon exports. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum called the U.S. livestock import ban unfair and hopes it will be lifted soon.
