An earthquake of magnitude 5.1 struck Myanmar again, causing panic among residents who rushed out of their homes. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the quake occurred near Mandalay, the second-largest city in Myanmar. Rescue teams are actively working to evacuate those trapped in the affected areas.
Rescue operations are facing challenges due to damaged roads, bridges, and communication systems caused by the massive 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar on Friday. This previous quake resulted in over 1,600 deaths and left more than 3,400 people missing. Authorities reported that the death toll is rising as debris is being cleared.
On Saturday, multiple aftershocks were recorded, including magnitudes of 4.3 at 11:53 AM, 3.8 at 2:30 PM, and 4.7 within 20 minutes. The latest earthquake has further increased fear among residents. In Bangkok, Thailand, a high-rise under construction collapsed, trapping 78 workers whose whereabouts remain unknown. Heavy machinery is being used to remove the massive debris.
