Pakistan Takes Retaliatory Measures Against India: Diplomatic Ties Severed

Pakistan announced retaliatory actions against India following the brutal terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu Kashmir. These actions include the closure of the Wagah border, cancellation of visas under the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), closure of Pakistani airspace to Indian airlines, and expulsion of Indian defense advisors from the Indian High Commission. Pakistan also decided to reduce the number of Indian diplomatic staff in Islamabad.

In retaliation for India's diplomatic actions, Pakistan took several key measures. These included the immediate closure of the Wagah border and suspension of trade routes through it. Pakistan ordered all Indian nationals who had entered Pakistan via Wagah with legal documents to return to India by April 30. Pakistan also announced the suspension of all bilateral agreements, including the Simla Agreement, with India until it complies with international laws on Kashmir and the United Nations resolutions.

Pakistan also cancelled the SAARC visa exemption scheme (SVES) for Indian nationals, stating that the measure would be implemented immediately. Indian citizens currently in Pakistan under this scheme were given 48 hours to leave the country. Furthermore, Pakistan's actions included the closure of airspace to Indian airlines and halting all trade through third countries. Additionally, Pakistan instructed Indian defense, naval, and air advisors in Islamabad to leave the country by April 30 and announced the reduction of Indian diplomatic staff at the Indian High Commission in Islamabad to 30 by the end of the month. The Pakistani government, led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, described India's actions as one-sided, unfair, and politically motivated.
