Washington D.C, USA: PM Modi affirmed that India and the US are “trusted friends and natural allies,” voicing confidence that upcoming trade discussions will open fresh avenues of growth.
His remarks followed President Trump’s confirmation of renewed negotiations to address “trade barriers,” despite US tariffs on Indian exports.
Modi wrote on X that both sides aim to conclude talks quickly. Trump, on Truth Social, called Modi a “very good friend” and voiced confidence in a “successful conclusion.”
The talks come after Washington imposed 50% tariffs on Indian goods and penalties on Russian oil imports. Both leaders stressed that ties remain strong and forward-looking.
