It is known that Pope Francis, the head of the Catholic Church, passed away on Monday. Vatican doctors revealed that he died due to a stroke and heart-related issues. In this context, the Vatican has officially announced that Pope Francis' funeral will be held on Saturday.

To discuss the funeral arrangements, a meeting of Cardinals took place in Rome this morning. Cardinals present in Rome attended the meeting. They discussed when to move Pope Francis’ body to Saint Peter’s Basilica for public viewing and when to conduct the funeral. It was decided to move the body to Saint Peter’s Basilica on Wednesday for public homage. The Cardinals decided that the funeral will be held on Saturday at 10 AM (Italian local time), as announced by Vatican City.

Following the death of Pope Francis, the Vatican released the first photo showing him in an open coffin, with the Vatican’s Foreign Affairs Secretary seen praying. The Vatican has declared a nine-day mourning period. Meanwhile, former US President Donald Trump announced that he would attend Pope Francis' funeral in Rome along with his wife Melania. He made this announcement on his social media platform, Truth Social.
