Chicago, Illinois, USA: The Chicago Chapter of Sankara Nethralaya hosted an Indian film music concert on December 13, 2025, in the Aurora region, aiming to build public awareness and raise funds for its medical eye care initiatives that support economically disadvantaged and rural populations across India.
The program showcased accomplished performers from the Tollywood film industry, respected local vocalists, and dynamic classical and cinema dance presentations, creating a lively and uplifting experience for the audience. Alongside the cultural performances, informative sessions led by Chicago Trustees Pavan Naranreddy and Gowri Addanki emphasised the value of regular eye checkups, modern surgical solutions, and preventive vision care. The event also highlighted Sankara Nethralaya’s far-reaching impact throughout India by delivering essential and life-changing eye treatment services to underserved communities.
The gathering also served as a moment to acknowledge the generosity and empathy of the Non-Resident Indian community in the United States, underscoring their deep-rooted connection to their homeland and its people. Despite icy weather conditions, members of the Indian community attended in large numbers, demonstrating strong enthusiasm and generous support. The Sankara Nethralaya Chicago Chapter expressed sincere gratitude for this overwhelming participation.
Prominent guests included President Bala Reddy Indurti, Treasurer Moorthy Rekapally, Milwaukee Trustee Chandra Mouli Saraswathi, and CVP Jagadeesh Badam from the Sankara Nethralaya USA leadership, as well as Board of Advisors member and Brand Ambassador Sri Prasad Reddy Katamreddy. The occasion was further distinguished by the presence of officials from the Indian Consulate General’s office, including Mrs Lima Mathew, Head of Chancery, Aurora City Council Member Swetha Baid, and several respected local community leaders and organisation representatives.
The chapter conveyed its heartfelt thanks to Chicago-based Indian music artists Praveen Kumar Jaligama, Mani Tellapragada, and Parimala Prasad for their memorable performances. The evening culminated with a grand finale by well-known film artists Parthu, Mallikarjun, and Sumangali. Engaging stage hosting by Pranathi and Hareesha added energy and balance to the event. The success of the program was made possible through the tireless efforts of the Chicago team, including CVP Dr Hima Chebrolu and Chapter Leads Srihari Jasti, Malathi Damaraju, Swetha Kottapplai, Radhia Veerapaneni, Radhika Garimella, Sivaramakrishna, Sailaja Sappa, Bindu, Naresh, Mohan Paruchuri, Ramaprasad, and Ravindra, whose behind-the-scenes dedication played a vital role in making a meaningful difference.
Funds raised through generous local donations supported the establishment of three mobile eye surgical units, expected to serve between three and six villages in India. In addition to the MESU sponsors, numerous donors also pledged their time as volunteers to further the organisation’s mission. Special appreciation was extended to sponsors Ravi Veerapaneni, Siva Gadepally, Parma Rao, and Sunita for their valuable contributions.
