Severe Storms and Flooding Devastate U.S. 9 Dead in Kentucky

Heavy rains have battered the United States, leading to severe flooding due to powerful storms. Streams and rivers have overflowed, and strong winds have caused extensive property damage. Kentucky has witnessed the highest casualties, with nine people reported dead so far. Many lost their lives as vehicles were trapped and submerged in floodwaters. Additionally, power supply has been severely disrupted, leaving nearly 39,000 homes in darkness. The situation may worsen, according to Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear.

Governor Andy Beshear expressed grief over the loss of lives due to the floods and stated that hundreds of stranded individuals still need to be rescued. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has been authorized to coordinate relief efforts. Meanwhile, former U.S. President Donald Trump is also reviewing the flood situation.

A mother and her seven-year-old child lost their lives after their car got trapped in floodwaters. In light of the situation, the governor has urged people to avoid stepping out onto the roads and to remain vigilant. According to Bob Oravec, Senior Forecaster at the National Weather Service, some areas in Kentucky and Tennessee have received up to 15 centimeters of rainfall, causing streams and rivers to overflow.
