Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla is set to travel to the International Space Station (ISS) as part of the ‘Axiom-4’ (AX-4) mission after multiple delays.
He will fly aboard the SpaceX Falcon-9 rocket, launching from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center at 12:01 pm IST. The spacecraft is expected to dock with the ISS at 7:00 AM IST this Thursday.
Shukla, the mission pilot, will be joined by Commander Peggy Whitson, Tibor Kapu of Hungary, and Slavoj Unanciek-Vincivic of Poland. T
his mission marks Shukla as the first Indian to reach the ISS via a private spaceflight, four decades after Rakesh Sharma’s mission with Russia in 1984. On board the ISS, Shukla will conduct scientific research in collaboration with NASA.
