Ugadi celebrations for the Sri Vishwavasu Nama Samvatsaram were conducted with grandeur in Singapore. The Singapore Telugu Samajam organized a special Kalyanotsavam (divine wedding) for Lord Srinivasa along with Sridevi and Bhudevi for the well-being of the world and prosperity in the coming year. Rituals included Suprabhata Seva, Thomala Seva, Abhishekam, Sahasra Namarchana, and special pujas for Mahalakshmi, Vishnu Durga, and Lord Hanuman. These spiritual activities took place at Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple on Serangoon Road, with hundreds of devotees participating with devotion and reverence. The Ugadi festival coinciding with the conclusion of the temple's annual Brahmotsavam added to the significance. After the Kalyanotsavam, a traditional Panchanga Patanam (almanac reading) was held, followed by Vedic blessings for the couples involved.
On this occasion, Telugu Samajam President Bommarreddy Srinivasulu Reddy conveyed Ugadi greetings to all Telugu people and wished prosperity for everyone in the new year. He announced that the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Singapore Telugu Samajam will be held on May 11 and sought support from everyone. Anil Polishetty, the event organizer, mentioned that all participating couples received Tirumala Laddu prasadam, Kalyana Talambralu, and other holy items sent by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, along with a souvenir commemorating the event.
He also stated that neem flowers, which are rare in Singapore, were distributed free of cost to local Telugu residents. Traditional Ugadi Pachadi (festival chutney) was shared with everyone, and food prasadam was offered to all attendees. Around 5,000 devotees reportedly participated in the celebrations throughout the day. It was notable that even local non-Telugu residents tasted the Ugadi Pachadi and appreciated its uniqueness. Anil Polishetty expressed gratitude to the Perumal Temple management, priests, donors, participating couples, devotees, Vedic scholars, volunteers, and all those who attended or watched the event live.
