Trump Cuts Japan Tariffs To 15% In New Trade Deal

US President Donald Trump has cut tariffs on Japanese imports from 25% to 15% under a new trade deal. The order follows months of negotiations and will take effect this month.

The agreement eases pressure on Japan’s auto industry and supports Tokyo’s $550 billion investment in the US.

A 15% baseline tariff will apply to most imports, with exemptions for autos, aerospace, medicines, and natural resources.

In return, Japan will buy more US goods, including aircraft, defense gear, and farm products. Rice imports will rise 75%, boosting US agricultural exports to nearly $8 billion annually.
