Trump Hints at US-China Trade Deal Amid Ongoing Tensions

Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump, known for his aggressive decision-making, is preparing to make another key move regarding China. He recently stated that a trade deal with China is likely to take shape, recalling a major trade agreement that was made in 2020. His comments are significant amid growing concerns over a possible trade war between the two countries.

Since taking office, Trump has frequently mentioned tariffs, making it clear that he would impose reciprocal tariffs on all countries, regardless of whether they are allies or adversaries. His aggressive stance is aimed at reducing the trade deficit. He had previously announced a 10% tariff on goods imported from China, to which China retaliated by imposing a 15% tariff on American coal and liquefied natural gas (LNG).

China’s Ministry of Finance also announced a 10% tariff on crude oil, agricultural equipment, and large-engine cars imported from the U.S. In this scenario of mutual tariff impositions, Trump’s latest remarks regarding a trade deal with China have gained significance.
