Trump Pledges to Halt Migration, End Benefits for Noncitizens in Thanksgiving Message

Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA: In his Thanksgiving message on Thursday, former President Donald Trump unveiled a series of proposed immigration policies, emphasising a strict approach toward noncitizens and migrants. Trump stated his intention to “end all federal benefits and subsidies to noncitizens” and to pursue the denaturalisation of migrants he believes undermine domestic stability.

Trump said he would “permanently pause migration from all Third World countries to allow the U.S. system to recover,” and would reverse what he described as “illegal admissions” under the Biden administration. He indicated that individuals “not contributing positively to the United States” or “unable to embrace American values” could face removal.

According to Trump, these measures are designed to significantly reduce populations he described as “illegal or disruptive,” including those admitted through what he called an “unauthorised approval process.” He also promoted the idea of “reverse migration” as a solution to the challenges he outlined.

In the holiday portion of his message, Trump extended greetings to American citizens while criticising the current state of immigration policy. He referenced Census data, stating that the foreign-born population in the U.S. numbers around 53 million, with many relying on welfare or originating from countries with unstable conditions. He argued that this “refugee burden” contributes to social issues such as high crime, struggling schools, urban decay, overcrowded hospitals, housing shortages, and budget deficits.

Trump highlighted Minnesota as a case in point, noting the presence of Somali refugees in the state. He criticised Governor Tim Walz and Representative Ilhan Omar, claiming they have not adequately addressed related challenges.

Concluding his message, Trump reiterated his focus on strict immigration enforcement, emphasising that those who “act against American values” would not be allowed to remain in the country.
