Vatican Releases Hospital Photo of Recovering Pope Francis

The Vatican has released a recent photo of Pope Francis (88) in the hospital. The image was made public on Sunday, showing him at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital, where he was admitted on February 14 due to a severe respiratory infection. Since then, he has not been seen in public. Doctors have conducted multiple tests and provided treatment for pneumonia. According to the Vatican, he is currently recovering.

A prayer room has been set up in the hospital for the Pope. The released photo, taken from behind, shows him sitting in front of an altar. His face is not visible, and he is resting his right hand on his lap. No medical equipment is seen in the image, indicating that he is not receiving oxygen support at the moment.

The health bulletin released on Saturday stated that the Pope’s condition is gradually improving, and he is breathing better. However, he is still using mechanical ventilation at night. The Vatican has not yet confirmed when he will be discharged but mentioned that his health is stabilizing. On Thursday, Pope Francis marked the 12th anniversary of his election despite his health challenges. He will continue serving as the Pope.
