Vidya Bharati USA Reconstitutes Board, Adds Satish Jha and Anil Parekh

Chicago, Illinios, USA: The nonprofit organization said the newly restructured board is focused on expanding support for its education-focused efforts in India.

Vidya Bharati Foundation of America has reorganized its United States Board of Directors and appointed Indian-American professionals Satish Jha and Anil Parekh as new board members.

The updated board will be led by Surender Garg and also includes Yashpal Arya from New York, Suresh Gupta from Florida, and Ashok Danda from Houston, along with the two newly inducted directors.

According to the organization, the board restructuring is aimed at deepening connections with the Indian diaspora across the United States and increasing backing for educational programs in India that emphasize accessibility and value-based learning.

Jha brings extensive leadership experience spanning education, technology, healthcare, and renewable energy. He currently serves as chairman of Pinewood Systems and The Jha Group. His past professional associations include One Laptop Per Child India, Adventist HealthCare, and James Martin & Co.

His career also includes mentoring education-driven organizations and advising institutions focused on enhancing academic outcomes. Jha has pursued studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University, EDHEC Business School, The Fletcher School at Tufts University, Harvard Kennedy School, the University of Maryland, and Erasmus University Rotterdam.

In an official statement, Jha expressed gratitude to Vidya Bharati leadership for the opportunity and said he was eager to support the organization’s mission in the education sector.

Parekh, who is based in Los Angeles, joins the board representing the U.S. West Coast. The organization noted that his appointment adds broader regional representation to Vidya Bharati USA’s leadership structure.

Vidya Bharati USA provides support to Vidya Bharati’s extensive school network in India, which runs nearly 14,000 schools across all states and 659 districts, employing over 150,000 teachers and staff members.

The organization stated that its operations follow a self-reliant model without government assistance, depending on locally donated land, donor-funded infrastructure, and affordable fees adjusted to community capacity.

The organization confirmed that the restructured board takes effect immediately.
